LEARNING DESIGNS
A learning environment should be rooted in proven cognitive theory, and logical use of the tools available. To that end, online learning designs need to take advantage of the unique and native uses of 21st century tools. Below are a few online learning activities I have created over the years. I'm continuing to experiment with different tools.
Advanced Placement Language Arts (2017)
I used Versal to create an online unit for my AP Language Arts Students during the 2016-2107 school year. It was a helpful platform to provide students with some additional learning opportunities outside of the classroom. They had to reference their text and engage with different quizzes, short answer questions, and reflection. The short answer questions proved to be ineffective with this content, because the responses had to be worded too precisely.
ART HISTORY WITH THINGLINK.COM (2014)
The image of Vincent VanGogh's "Le Chambre de Arles" is an example of an embedded ThingLink image used as a learning exercise. The content points become visible when the cursor is on the image and disappear when it is not. This image includes five content points. One of the item directs to a Google Doc with a student assignment. This shows one of many ways that ThingLink can be used for instruction. It could also be used for professional development as well. A company can embed their mission, marketing videos and services onto a company logo and use it for employee orientation. |

(Professional Development Webinar (2014)
As part of my graduate program we were challenged to develop a 30-minute online professional development workshop for our fellow students, local school district teachers and NAU education alumni. Our group chose to explore and develop a training on Thinglink. I've embedded the recording of that training session via my Youtube channel. You can find view the website we created to provide access on-going access for future webinar participants. |
