I enjoy the rural mountain community of Prescott Arizona. Though, I look forward to experiencing life in different parts of the country and around the world. Pennsylvania was my first home before relocating to Arizona for education and adventure. I found both.
I've worked in non-profits and social services for 10 years. During this time, I discovered a love for educating my peers and facilitating workshops at the non-profit teen center I managed. I also spent some time writing for a local business newspaper and editing an arts e-newsletter. Writing and learning go hand-in-hand in my experience. Together, they fulfill my ever-curious nature.
I have Masters of Education in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelors of Arts in Human Development from Prescott College. I hope to bring together my experience in social justice work with creating educational environments that take the best advantage of 21st century technology. Salman Khan's, founder of Khan Academey, highlights in his TED Talk (see below) the highest goal of technology in education. When used creatively, it brings more human connection and deeper personalized learning to every educational environment.
My interests are in combining technology with Expeditionary and Adventure education styles, professional development for social service agencies and businesses, and promoting lifelong learning skills. I'm a distinct type of nerd that enjoys pouring over the APA and MLA writing handbooks and editing essays and research papers.
Value Statement
I believe that education is a fundamental human right. Each person should enjoy the opportunity to pursue and access personally meaningful education throughout her/his lifetime. I seek projects that speak to my values and challenge my skills and creativity.
